Steam & Strife

Everything you need to make a character is on this website. APPROVAL is required before game play. Ensure you are aware with the stories currently. The RP will be driven by character interaction, stories and plots. You have been given the setting, the background and a list of enemies and such that you can either play, or play against. The Society is recruiting, or you could be an older member already established. Most of the Rping will be done in teams, which will switch around at times, giving people a chance to work with othes and such, but this Roleplay will not be heavily modded in terms of constant plot devices and such. There are a WIDE list of characters you can

choose to play. Basic profile should at least include, Name, Race, Position - Occupation, Age and perhaps a brief history. Chacaters from fictional novels of that time  and Penny Dreadful stories are available for play.

Artwork or photographs will suffice, but please remember the setting is Victorian Gothic Steampunk when chosing your artwork. Also even though this is a "Slight alternate Victorian Era with techonological advances" - please remember that cellphones DO NOT exist in this time frame, nor do TVS, or are vehicles. AIRSHIPS are. Nautical ships too. If you are unsure of bringing in certain technology please ask a moderator first!.

The Walpurgis Society
are a secret society of highly trained individuals whose sole purpose is to protect the human race from the supernatural threat. They come from all walks of life (men and women both, though being human is a requirement) and are a large, organised task-force. Being a Walpurgist is a paid, full-time occupation. [Some witches**, Aristocrats, Noble, Poets, Artisans, Lower class, etc..]

The Spooks

**(By no means is meant to be offensive. The Spooks is merely a nickname the supernatural have called themselves for the purpose of this RP.) The Spooks are a group of guerrilla extremists (of all species, including some humans) who believe that keeping magic and the supernatural hidden is fundamentally unjust. Some are more humanitarian than others. The center of the operation is in the London Underground, and rooting out their hideout is priority 1 for the Walpurgists. This is a political cause and a lifestyle, but provides no income. [Vampires, Werewolves, Ghosts, Ghouls, Changelings, Demons ]

The Mundane
The Mundane are humans who aren't aware the supernatural exists. These are the people who make up Victorian London, who sit in Parliament, police the streets, work the docks; they are maids, valets, labourers, sailors, army men, lawyers, doctors and socialites. These are the people the Walpurgists protect. [Humans] (Those unaware of the Supernatural)

The Chaotic
"Chaotic" covers any person - human or otherwise - who is both aware of the current situation and unconcerned with the consequences of broadcasting it. This includes creatures who openly attack humans, ghosts who haunt, and so on. These people are not affiliated with either Spooks or Walpugrists.

The Lawful
"Lawful" covers any person - human or otherwise - who is both aware of the current situation and reasonably well-behaved with regard to the Supernatural Secrecy Act. (The Act was passed by humans -- Walpurgists. Supernatural people keep themselves a secret to survive.) This means that they keep the supernatural a secret, it does not necessarily mean they are not petty criminals of other kinds. It would be perfectly possible to be a lawful cat-burglar, so long as said cat-burglar didn't broadcast the existence of the supernatural whilst pocketing the crown jewels.
